An Analysis Of Nintendo (NTDOY)

Even before last week’s announcement from Sony (SNE), it seemed nearly certain that company’s dominance in the PlayStation 2 generation of video game consoles would give way to a much more level playing field for the PS3 generation. This time around, Sony faces much stiffer competition from both Microsoft (MSFT) and Nintendo (NTDOY).

While the Nintendo name is most closely associated with a video game platform (the NES), the company’s real focus has always been the games rather than the platform. Herein lies the true distinction between Nintendo and its two larger rivals. Nintendo seeks to make good games. Microsoft and Sony seek to control a distribution channel.

Nintendo is the only company among the three console makers that began life as an entertainment company – and it shows. Microsoft is known for software; Sony is known for hardware; and Nintendo is known for games.

American gamers are well acquainted with the Nintendo brand; but, American investors generally know very little about the company. That’s unfortunate, because despite all the attention given to Sony and Microsoft’s video game operations, Nintendo is the ultimate pure play video game company.

Nintendo is big. The company surpasses U.S. video game publishing giant Electronic Arts (ERTS) in sales, earnings, and market cap. On the last count, some may argue that Nintendo only has a larger market cap than EA, because its stock price has risen sharply over the past year, while EA’s share price has actually declined. However, there’s a much simpler explanation.

Nintendo has a larger market cap than Electronic Arts, because Nintendo (the business) is worth more than EA (the business). The run-up in Nintendo’s stock price may be entirely due to improved investor perceptions of the company’s future prospects as a result of the good press surrounding Nintendo’s soon to be launched console, the Nintendo Wii.

Regardless, such an increase in the price of Nintendo’s shares was justified by the rather low value the market had previously placed on Nintendo’s business. The same can’t be said of Electronic Arts. Even after underperforming the S&P 500 over the last three years, EA’s stock price remains at levels that are nearly impossible to justify using any form of rational thought. So, Nintendo really is the world’s largest pure play video game company.

Nintendo is an interesting business to write about from an investor’s perspective for several reasons. The company operates in an exciting industry with excellent long-term prospects. It’s more reasonably priced than many public companies in that industry (although that’s not saying much). It’s a truly unique business (with a unique past), and it has a clear vision of what it is and what it isn’t. Obviously, Nintendo’s tremendous intellectual properties add to its appeal both as a subject of an article and as the object of an investor’s interest.

Nintendo has been a good steward of its intellectual properties. It’s been very careful to protect the image of its most beloved characters. In fact, some would say the company has occasionally been too protective of its strongest franchises.

For instance, between 1994 and 2002 there were no new Metroid games, despite the popularity of that franchise. The benefit of such a strategy is that when Metroid Prime was released in 2002, it received extraordinary reviews and sold over a million units. The downside to this approach is obvious. Nintendo effectively surrendered the revenue (almost certainly more than 0 million) that could have been milked from the franchise throughout the latter half of the 1990s.

Nintendo is one of only a few businesses in this position. It’s a rare and valuable property that can benefit from spending some time “in the vault”. Nintendo has several such properties. For this reason, Nintendo has more in common with companies like Disney (DIS) and Lucasfilm than it does with manufacturers of consumer electronics.

Nintendo is an entertainment company; not an electronics company. Console sales are inextricably intertwined with games sales. Hardware sales account for a large portion of Nintendo’s total sales; however, hardware sales don’t drive a large portion of Nintendo’s total sales. At Nintendo, the games sell the consoles. Of course, the console itself can affect the gameplay experience in its role as a platform. For instance, the console itself is expected to be a differentiating gameplay factor when the Wii launches later this year. Whether it’s a positive or negative factor, we don’t know. But, the Wii itself will certainly help differentiate Nintendo’s games from their competition.

Third party publisher support for the Wii has been the subject of much debate and speculation. Nintendo’s consoles have enjoyed less support from third parties than the competing consoles, because Nintendo has been less willing to work with third parties on their terms.

While many publishers are now interested in releasing titles for the Wii, there is a new and substantial impediment to successful third party titles. Games will have to be designed around the Wii. In the past, it was easier for third parties to offer titles for Nintendo’s consoles, without targeting that console in particular. Now, it will be a lot harder to do that. Expect a few botched attempts early on.

A Long, Slow Decline

Nintendo’s position in hardware has been declining for well over a decade now. In fact, the zenith of Nintendo’s fortunes in the console business was the NES itself (launched in 1985). It’s been downhill since then. Nintendo launched the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1985, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1991, the Nintendo 64 (N64) in 1996, and the GameCube in 2001.

Here are the worldwide unit sales for these four systems as of March 31st of this year:

NES: 61.9 million

SNES: 49.1 million

N64: 32.9 million

GameCube: 20.9 million

That’s not a pretty trend. To add injury to injury, the number of games sold per console had been steadily declining until the GameCube dramatically reversed that trend.

Here are the number of games sold per console for each of the four systems:

NES: 8.08 games

SNES: 7.72 games

N64: 6.84 games

GameCube: 9.05 games

GameCube

The above GameCube number is especially interesting, because sales of GameCube games in the Americas has been extraordinarily strong considering its modest installed base relative to what previous Nintendo consoles had enjoyed.

The GameCube has performed much better in the U.S. than it has elsewhere. The Americas account for 58.37% of worldwide GameCube unit sales while Japan accounts for merely 19.14% of worldwide sales. In the Americas, the number of games sold per GameCube is approximately 10; while in Japan it is only 7.

While a difference of 10 games per system to 7 games per system may not sound that important, it is a far greater difference in the number of games sold per system between geographic regions than exists with any other current Nintendo platform. As a result, the Americas account for nearly two out of every three games sold for the GameCube.

Nintendo DS

At first, it appears the situation is reversed with the Nintendo DS. Japan accounts for more than 4 out of every 10 sales of both DS games and the handheld platform itself. However, at the beginning of this year, the ratio of software to hardware sales was still a bit higher in the Americas than it was in Japan. That’s the case for all of Nintendo’s platforms, although the games per platform gap varies from very wide (GameCube) to quite narrow (DS).

Game Boy Advance

Nintendo’s Game Boy sales have always been pretty impressive. The Game Boy Advance, which launched in 2001, has sold more than 75 million units and more than 325 million games. That doesn’t include sales of the various Game Boys of the 20th century (the original launched in 1989) which have sold well over 100 million units and 500 million games.

The Game Boy has helped Nintendo’s financial results, because it has been a much more consistent performer. Taking part in the “console wars” is expensive, time-consuming, and risky. The risks are incurred upfront; the rewards come on the back half of the journey. Having the support of regular revenues derived from the Game Boy certainly doesn’t hurt when you’re involved in such an uncertain undertaking as launching a new console every half decade or so.

Financial Performance

Considering the industry it operates in, Nintendo has been a solid performer. The company consistently turns a profit, which isn’t easy when there aren’t other divisions to smooth out any of the bumps brought on by launching new consoles and essentially launching new products constantly.

After all, that is the greatest difference between the video game business and almost every other business around. All your sales are coming from “new” products, even if they are variations on the same theme or sequels within an established franchise. The lifecycle of each product is unnervingly similar to the lifecycle of a fruit fly.

So, the business depends upon doing an adequate job a great many times. As a general rule, businesses where you only have to do one really smart thing every couple of decades are better bets.

Conclusion

Apparently, most Japanese gamers now believe the Nintendo Wii will come out on top in this round of the console wars. That’s a surprising and somewhat disturbing finding. If the Wii really is a revolution in the making, I suppose they’ll be right. But, I still think this is Sony’s race to lose.

What will the price of a PS3 be in December of 2007? Until I know that, I can’t predict anything other than a much tighter race this time around.

What about Nintendo as an investment? The stock isn’t expensive, if you expect it to win the next round of the console wars. Otherwise, it’s difficult to value. There are two big issues: the Wii and handheld gaming.

I’m not convinced there are going to be serious competitive threats to Nintendo’s position in handheld gaming coming from high-tech cell phones that are quickly becoming the Swiss Army Knife of the 21st century. I just don’t think the three great obstacles of clumsy controls, a lack of focus from the manufacturer, and a lack of interest from the user are going to be easy to overcome. Nintendo is in the best position of any company to profit from handheld gaming in the future. They will face competition; but, they will start with the advantage of knowing what their product is (a game machine).

So, if you are comfortable with Nintendo’s position in handheld gaming and you truly believe in both the company and the Wii, it would be a reasonable long-term investment at this price. However, even considering the large amount of cash and securities on the balance sheet relative to Nintendo’s market cap, it isn’t a “value” style purchase based on past performance alone. Buying shares at the current price is a bet on a brighter future.

While I like Nintendo’s prospects at the moment, it’s usually safer to bet against the revolution. So, I’d have to say Nintendo is a very interesting business that’s priced a bit too high to be a very interesting investment.

An Analysis Of Nintendo (NTDOY)

If you have found yourself in the process of finding legitimate suppliers for XBOX 360 wholesale gaming consoles, video games and accessories, it can be a very time consuming, painful and difficult process, through trial and error. There are hundreds of websites claiming to have the “Ultimate” wholesale directory, unfortunately over 99.9% are there to purposely scam you out of your hard earned money. You will hear claims such as: Once you purchased our “Wholesale Directory”, you will soon find yourself making 0,000+/yearly profits and no experience is necessary for these results.

I am sure you have stumbled upon an ebay auction listing for a “Wholesale List’ on ebay, what did you find from that wholesale list? Suppliers that we’re found using alibaba, which will eventually get you scammed. The first rule to product sourcing is: You cannot purchase name branded electronics from China, so that means for those that think you will find a supplier for XBOX 360′s wholesale from alibaba, made-in-china, tradekey, ec21,  you will only lose your hard earned money and be at square one again. Hong Kong does have legitimate distributors for branded products, they have contracts with manufacturers and you will not find them advertising on B2B china websites.

A business that purchases products, warehouses the product, and  then  resells the product to  retailers or wholesalers. They also provide different services (such as information about products, technical support, warranties, credit) to  their clients.

The significant benefits of purchasing product from a distributor, is the fact you’re purchasing inventory directly from the source. Let’s say for instance, Foxconn manufacturers Apple products, once the manufacturing process for Apple iPhone is complete they ship the iPhones to the wholesale distributors and AT& T. Meaning you’re one step away from the manufacturer, with branded electronics you cannot purchase directly from the manufacturer, It’s impossible.

A business that purchases large quantities of products and resells to resellers, rather than directly to the retail customer.

The significant benefits of purchasing product from a wholesaler, is the fact you’re purchasing inventory in small to large quantity orders, thus allowing the cost per item to be reduced significantly. Which allows  you to make more profits per sale.

Drop shippers ship products for a business directly to your customers, as though the business owned a relevant product inventory, but the manufacturer is the source of that delivery

The benefits of drop shipping are the elimination of physical inventory and a positive  cash flow. A positive cash flow cycle occurs because the seller is paid when the purchase is made. The seller usually pays the wholesaler using a credit card or paypal. Therefore, there is a period of time in which the seller has the customer’s money, before money is sent to the wholesaler.

As an experienced product sourcing professional, 7+ years dealing with distributors and bulk suppliers, 2 different retail businesses that I would label a success. Once you know where to look, finding reliable, trustworthy profitable suppliers becomes easy, you simply cannot expect to find water looking in the desert.

The facts are, it is vital for you to find XBOX 360 wholesale suppliers that will provide you with true wholesale pricing for consoles, video games and accessories. You will need true wholesale suppliers that will benefit your business with genuine product and quality customer service. I wish you success with your future business aspirations to achieve your goals for financial independence.

XBOX 360 Wholesale Professional Product Sourcing – Our motivation is to assist those in the quest for knowledge pertaining to product sourcing for XBOX 360 Wholesale Suppliers.

An Analysis Of Nintendo (NTDOY)

Nintendo. That name is both great and horrible to me. It’s great in that I’ve had a lot of fun with their consoles and games over the years. The Gameboy, Super Nintendo, N64, Gamecube, DS, Wii, and 3DS just to name a few. But it’s horrible in that they are the enemy of Sega and Sonic the Hedgehog. I was always, and always will be, a Sega fan first. In the 90s I had a Genesis and a GameGear and that was all I ever needed. But as time past, and Sega and Nintendo became friends, I realized how fun Nintendo consoles and games really are.

I’ve loved Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario World, New Super Mario Bros, Sonic Colors, Super Smash Bros, and a lot more video games on Nintendo consoles.

Nintendo is the longest running and most powerful gaming creator ever. Sony and Microsoft are absolute successes and giants as well in the gaming world, but Nintendo has the longest track record. They survived the great video game crash, and they survived Sega. If they could survive that, they can survive anything. Sony has the highest sold individual console ever, at 150 million for Playstation 2, but Nintendo has sold more overall consoles than any other game maker ever. Nobody comes close to Nintendo in that regard. The highest sold game franchise belongs to Nintendo, with Mario sellilng 240 million games to date. Pokemon has sold 215 million units, Wii sports at 102 million and various others. Nintendo has 3 of the top 10 gaming franchises in the world based on sales. They are truly a dominator in the gaming world.

What Nintendo does they do right. The Wii is a console that is really weak in comparison to the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360, but it has reached a mass market of casual game players who haven’t given video games a chance before. Really the only problem with Nintendo is that they have far too many shovelware games, games that are really stupid and have no point to them whatsoever. They are just created to fill space on the walmart shelf basically. Nintendo is absolutely rich with epic fail/stupid games. But other than that Nintendo does everything right, and they have created a lot of fun and creative games over the years. Hopefully it continues with the Project Cafe console that’s set to be announced officially soon, and with the new Nintendo 3DS.

Xbox 360 Shut Down and Red Ring of Death Troubleshooting Tips

If your Xbox 360 shuts down and shows 3 red lights around the console button, before you panic you must first determine what color your Power Supply light is showing. A green LED, red LED, an orange/yellow LED and a not lit LED all mean something different. The main reason most Xbox 360 units stop working is because of overheating, which is indicative of a design flaw.

To keep Your Unit from Overheating To Prevent the Red Ring of Death…

You MUST place the Xbox (and power block) in an area with plenty of ventilation. Do not place the Xbox in confined or closed in space, such as bookcases, stereo cabinet, on the floor, or in a crowded electronics rack.
Try to Place your Xbox on the side which exposes more surface area for cooling. Position a fan to blow air across your Xbox. (A fan is a good investment to protect a 0 console.)
Do not place your Xbox or Power Block on carpet, a rug, a soft chair, or any other soft and yielding surfaces that may block air currents. Your Xbox must have air!
Do NOT place the Xbox near heat sources such as heaters, very warm electronics, stoves, radiators and furnaces.
Do not to allow direct sunlight to shine on your Xbox.

The tips given here are intended to be prevention measures for your Xbox when it is brand new if you wish to avoid heating problems for your console. Here are other things you should look for if your Xbox 360 is not working or just stops working in the middle of a game.

If the Power Supply LED light is GREEN: Turn off the console. Wait 30 seconds, and then turn on the console again to see if the problem repeats. If restarting your Xbox 360 console does not solve the problem and your console continues to display three flashing red lights, call tech support or submit a console-repair request online.

Before you call tech support, take note as to what three red lights are flashing and in what order they flash as the tech will ask you for this information to help determine the problem.

If the Power Supply LED light is RED: This issue occurs when the external power supply has detected a fault. The power supply has several built-in safeguards to help prevent damage to either the console or to the power supply itself. The power supply will turn itself off if one of the following things happens: too much current, voltage is too high, or temperature of the power supply is too high.

Turn off your Xbox 360, disconnect all external cables and the power block. Disconnect the cable from the wall socket. Allow the console to cool for at least 3 hours. After the power supply has cooled for several hours, reconnect the Xbox 360 Power Supply to the console and to the wall socket. If the power supply light is still red, go to step 2.
Make sure that the power supply is plugged in correctly. Make sure that the power supply is plugged directly into a working wall outlet. If the power cord is plugged in to an extension cord, surge protector, or a power strip, the current or voltage going to the power supply may not be correct.
Try a different wall socket; preferably one on a different circuit in the house.
If you have access to another Xbox, try another Xbox 360 Power Cord and Xbox 360 Power Supply unit. If the console now turns on with the other cables, replace the faulty cable. If the console does not turn on, the issue may be with the console itself. Contact Xbox Customer Support and ask how to obtain a replacement power supply or cable.

If the Power Supply LED light is ORANGE/YELLOW: If the power supply light is orange but the console will not turn on, there may be a problem with the console. An orange light is illuminated on the power supply for one of the following reasons: the console is turned off, the power supply is disconnected from the console or the power supply cord is not fully inserted into the power socket of the console. Here are some steps that you can use to try to fix the Orange/Yellow LED problem.

Turn off the Xbox 360 console.
Disconnect the cord that connects the power supply to the console. Wait 20 seconds.
Reconnect all the cords, and then try to turn on the console.
If the orange light remains illuminated but the console will still not turn on, call Microsoft tech support to consider if you may want to submit a console-repair request online.

If the Power Supply LED light is not lit at all (no glow): If the power supply light is not illuminated, this usually means that the power supply is disconnected from the wall socket. Try the following steps to resolve the No Power light problem:

Make sure that the power cord for your Xbox 360 console power supply is connected to the wall socket.
Determine whether there is a switch that must be turned on for the wall socket to provide power.
If the power supply is firmly connected and there is no switch for the socket, try using a different wall socket.
If the outlet is working (try plugging in a lamp to test the outlet) but your Xbox 360 console does not turn on, the power cords may be damaged.
Turn off the console and again unplug the cords. Examine the power cords for damage. If either cord is damaged, do not use them – throw them away. If you have another Xbox 360 Power Cord and Xbox 360 Power Supply available, try using them to test the console.
If your Xbox 360 console now turns on using the other cords, replace the original power cord or power supply block. Note: Use of an unofficial, unauthorized, or third-party power supply may invalidate your warranty.

Xbox 360 Red Light Prevention And Best Position – Many people have had to deal with the infamous Xbox 360 flashing red lights. This will render your Xbox 360 console unplayable until it’s repaired. The 3 flashing red lights on the Xbox 360 indicates that there was a hardware failure with the motherboard and the hard drive system. This is a sad day for many gamers all over when this occurs. Here are some tips on how prevent and avoid the Xbox 360 flashing red lights error. Also learn the best way to position your Xbox 360 to prevent damages Xbox 360 games and other damage. Don’t risk your Xbox 360 because they are not a cheap item and most would consider it a small fortune. So take a couple minutes to learn a few tips to avoid damage and repair fees for your Xbox 360 console.

Prevent The Dreaded Xbox 360 Flashing Red Lights Error – The Xbox 360 uses a lot of processing power for the high performance gaming, this will cause the Xbox 360 to overheat and damage the system to the point of major repair. Getting your Xbox 360 repaired through Microsoft will cost you 0 and will take weeks to get returned. Place the Xbox 360 in a proper area that will allow air to flow freely through the vents on the Xbox 360. I made the mistake personally of placing my Xbox 360 in my home entertainment stand, which was an enclosed area and this didn’t allow the console enough airflow. You never want to place the Xbox 360 on a blanket or on the floor with carpet. The vents will suck dust and linen in the Xbox and will prevent it from receiving proper airflow. Places it on the floor with carpet will overheat the console in no time.

Purchase a cooling unit for your Xbox 360 that will give your console dual fan cooling. Some people say that the cooling fan unit will mess the Xbox 360 up. Although I think the cooling fan unit is a safe way to prevent your Xbox 360 from overheating and they only cost about -. This will help your Xbox 360 when having a long gaming session all night long.

An Analysis Of Nintendo (NTDOY)

Major amendments have been brought in Ready made garments and made-up articles through the budget 2011-12. These goods fall under chapter 61 of the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985. Earlier these goods were exempted vide serial no. 16 of Notification no. 30/2004-CE dt. 09.07.2004. The entry at this serial no. exempted all the goods falling in chapter 61 subject to the condition of non availment of cenvat credit on inputs. This notification is amended vide notification no. 12/2011-CE dated 1.3.2011 the impact of which is that after budget, only those goods of chapter 61 will be exempted that neither bear the brand name nor are sold under the brand name. Further new Notification no. 1/2011-CE dated 1.3.2011 and Notification no. 2/2011-CE dated 1.3.2011 have also not prescribed any exemption for the same. Thus, the impact of this amendment is that no exemption is there and no specific rate of duty is prescribed for these items. Hence these will be taxable at normal rate of duty i.e. 10% advalorem. The whole situation can be noted in following manner:-

Prior to the budget the goods classified under chapter 61, 62 and 63 were exempted from levy of excise duty and the option to pay duty was there for the goods of cotton, not containing any other textile material.

ü     Exemption to the goods falling under chapter 61, 62 and 63:- Earlier in the notification no. 30/2004-CE dt. 19.07.2004 the exemption was provided to all goods falling under the chapter 61, 62 and 63 (except 63090000 and 6310). Further the notification also disallowed the cenvat credit of duty paid on the inputs used in manufacturing of these goods. Hence there was no any excise duty on the aforementioned goods irrespective to the fact that whether these were bearing any brand name and or sold under a brand name or not.

ü     Option to go for exemption or pay duty:- Further the option to pay duty or avail exemption was also available with the assessee with regard to the aforementioned goods. The notification no. 29/2004-CE dt. 19.07.2004 provides 4% duty on all the goods of cotton falling under chapter 61, 62 and 63, not containing any other textile material. This notification was also applicable to all the goods including those bearing brand name or sold under a brand name. Thus, the manufacturer of branded goods made up of cotton had an option to avail either exemption vide notification no. 30/2004-CE and not to avail any cenvat credit or pay 4% duty vide notification no. 29/2004-CE with the benefit of availment of cenvat credit.

ü     Taxability of branded cloths:- In the present budget the exemption of excise duty is removed on aforementioned goods having brand name or are sold under a brand name. Now the exemption on branded cloths has been removed vide notification no. 12/2011-CE dt. 01.03.2011. The provision of concessional rate of duty on these goods is also removed vide notification no. 11/2011-CE dt. 01.03.2011. Now the aforementioned goods falling under chapter 61, 62 and 63 having brand name or are sold under a brand name are under the tax net without any option to pay concessional duty or any exemption. The benefits of availment of cenvat credit will be available in this case.

ü     Option lies for non branded specified items:- But the older provision to pay concessional rate of duty or availing exemption still lies for the goods which does not possess any brand name or also not sold under any brand name. Hence the optional duty regime will be continued for non branded clothes/garments.

ü     Person liable to pay duty: – In normal trade practice as prevalent for garments, many times the goods are get manufactured from the job worker. Central Excise Rules, 2002 have been amended and rule 4(1A) is inserted which says that the person who is getting the goods (falling in chapter 61, 62 & 63) manufactured from job worker will be liable to pay the duty and comply with Excise rules and regulations. However, burden of the same can also be shifted to the job worker and in such case he will be liable to comply with the Rules and regulations. Thus, the manufacturer of the branded goods who gets the goods manufactured on job work will also be covered under this clause. Now the option is available for payment of duty i.e either the job worker or the brand owner can pay the duty. But in trade, it is told to us some manufacturers procures their own inputs and manufacture the branded goods for brand owner and sells them. In that case, these manufacturers will be liable to duty and they cannot shift their burden to brand owner.

ü     SSI Exemption:- As per Notification no. 8/2003-CE dated 1.3.2003; the SSI exemption is given to the manufacturer of the dutiable goods. On the other hand, as per rule 4(1A); liability to pay duty has been shifted to other person. Accordingly, notification no. 8/2003 has been amended vide notification no. 8/2011-CE dated 1.3.2011 and in case rule 4(1A) is applicable, the person liable to pay the duty (i.e. the principle manufacturer/ supplier) will be deemed to the manufacturer for the purpose of SSI exemption under Notification no. 8/2003-CE. Thus, now even if the goods are manufactured by the job worker who is actual manufacturer, the benefit of SSI exemption will be given to the person liable to pay the excise duty in terms of rule 4(1A) of the Central Excise Rules, 2002.

ü     Definition of deemed manufacturing is amended:- The activities of labeling or re-labeling or affixing a brand name was already covered under the process of manufacturing regarding knitted or crocheted fabrics and Articles of apparel and clothing accessories, knitted or crocheted. But these processes were not deemed as manufacture for the goods of other made up textile articles, sets, worn clothing and worn textile articles, rags etc. Now from the Budget, 2011; a chapter note is included for these articles also. The effect of this amendment is that even where these goods are sent to job workers for the purpose of re-labeling or affixing a brand name, this activity will amount to manufacture and provisions of Central Excise Act and Rules made thereunder would apply. Thus, in the cases, where the goods are made ups of textile articles, sets, worn clothing and worn textile articles, rags, etc. and only brand name is affixed at the place of brand owner then it will amount to manufacture and he has to pay the duty. This point is being asked in the industry and we have replied in this article that if the brand owner fixes the brand name on clothes then the liability to pay duty will be on the brand owner only.

ü     Tariff Value:- The tariff value for charging duty on readymade garments and textile made-ups falling under chapter 61 to 63 is fixed @ 60% of the retail sale price. This has been done vide notification no. 7/2011-CE(NT) dated 1.3.2011 which amends notification no. 20/2001-CE(NT). Now the duty of 10% will be payable on the assessable value which will be 60% of the retail sale price for the branded clothes. Thus, there is no dispute as regards valuation. Rule 10A will not come into picture even if the duty is paid by job worker.

In a nutshell it can be said that for unbranded goods, an optional duty regime would continue but the branded goods will become dutiable @10%.  Also the Labeling and brand name on products would attract a duty. Earlier the assessees were paying duty voluntarily but now it is mandatory to pay duty on the branded clothes. Non-branded garments makers will get excise duty exemption if they have not availed facility of duty credit on inputs. Now the assessees who are manufacturing branded garments have to avail cenvat credit on inputs and to clear the goods after payment of 10% Excise Duty. But as the notifications no. 29 and 30/2004 is lying with the supplier of inputs the duty amount charged by the supplier will be either NIL or at concessional rate i.e. 4%. Consecutively he has to avail cenvat credit of 4% or NIL (not available if Notification no. 30/2004-CE opted) and has to clear the branded garments at 10% rate of duty. This will disturb the cenvat credit chain. These amendments can only be beneficial to those large scale manufacturers who are having the manufacturing facility of the garments from the very first input i.e. cotton, yarn to garments as finished goods.

But the other branded goods manufacturer will try to pursue the textile processing units and grey manufacturers to avail cenvat credit and pay duty so that they can also claim cenvat credit. Will it lead to textile industry coming in tax net again? Let us wait and time will tell.

An Analysis Of Nintendo (NTDOY)

For those of you who play PC games, you’re probably still mad about the last Call of Duty game. Modern warfare 2 certainly left a bad taste in everyone, I knows mouth. With the constant lag, and unsupportive community. Well it felt almost like we paid sixty dollars to get laughed at by a bunch of fascist, monopolizing video game developers. Who then made console gamers feel like they were getting spoiled, by making PC look bad. In reality everyone lost when Modern Warfare 2 was left a premature baby to fend for itself in a raving pit of mad dogs who are the highly critiqueful gamers that supported them from the beginning.  Might I remind you were still pissed that we: PC gamers were the first people to support Infinity ward when they made Call of Duty, and were the highest supporters up till Call of Duty: World at War. Where Infinity ward decided that they’d basically give PC gamers the finger, by using a antiquated game engine that was already two years old. To create essentially a very crappy mod of a already great game (Modern Warfare). They also decided to take away private servers, Lan gaming, and basically anything that separates the elite usage of PC gaming over Console gaming. This made a majority of us (Pc gamers). Extremely unhappy, and had us searching for alternative games. I found my refuge from all the teenage kids with too much money, and not enough video game taste to tell the difference between Hannah Montana, and System of a Down. By playing Battlefield: Bad Company 2, which was alright for the first while. It had everything that Modern Warfare 2 lacked, except smooth game play. This attributed to their finger in the face of PC gaming by creating a crappy PC port of a console game. Which I eventually quit. They also made me mad because they also had a very strong PC base, but maybe I’ll give them my reckoning later. This is about Call of Duty: Black Ops might I remind myself.

Modern Warfare 2 in the music world would be Hannah Montana.

So to begin with, I’ll start with the bad parts of the game, which will help shed some light on the good parts of the game. Might I remind you I’m extremely happy with this game, even paying at the full retail price of dollars. The bad parts would consist of: Slight lag in some parts, a few glitches, and the fact that they’re still using the same graphics engine.

Sheddin the light.

Well the slight lag honestly isn’t that bad. It happens from time to time when there’s lots of explosions, but this game honestly shouldn’t be lagging at all. My computer is a fresh install of windows 7 64-bit. It has a XFX 4870 1-gig of memory graphics card, with 8 gigs of ram, and a quad core Phenom II processor. Which is over clocked to 3.2 GHz, and is indeed very stable. All the game really needs is some patches to make it run fast, but this also ties in with the antiquated graphics engine for the game.

Yeah, some of those are indeed 2,000,000,004.

Last of all the problems I had with this game was the game engine. This also goes along with how console gaming is killing PC gaming. To start out with, PC gamers buy, and build PCs so that they can have more powerful systems. They also enjoy the full customizability of the games, and their system. It also saves money because they don’t have to buy a computer, and a console to play their games, then check their e-mails. It’s altogether, and much faster. Well the major consoles that have come out lately are the Xbox 360 (which was first sold in 2005), and the PS3 (First sold in 2006). No the Wii doesn’t count in this. In creating consoles they can’t use the latest, and greatest parts either, or they’d be losing tons of money. That’s also another point against consoles. Consoles then stole a lot of the lazy developers from creating games for PC (which are easier to make, and port off to consoles). To creating games solely for consoles, and then porting them to PC. Well that’s rather mean as we were the forerunners to gaming becoming such a huge success. Anyways, so as PC users kept upgrading their computers; consoles are still using the same hardware. For over 5 years now, and that’s been bogging the graphics down. So console gamers, and PC gamers are losing out. Because lazy developers, and hardware manufactures continue to dominate, because we let them.

It’s okay, we just won’t buy your crappy games anymore.

So let’s go back to the youth of the Xbox 360, and the PS3. Well there weren’t any big games out at the moment, and the next generation consoles were still waiting for some good games. (Developers should have started making games for the consoles years behind. But they were still satisfied with making games for the outdated older consoles). Well I still remember one of the first games to come out that really made Xbox 360 big was Gears of War. A year after the Xbox 360 was released. After that Came Halo 3, which was a major disappointment. Thanks to Microsoft, who made Bungie create their game, instead of Bungie creating its own game. PS3, and Xbox 360 then got a godsend. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. I remember playing the next generation graphics, admiring every little speck of detail. The graphics were out of this world good for the time, and made Halo 3 look like a cartoon game. Quickly the stereotypes of only kids play Halo 3, and men play Modern Warfare started showing up. Which was mostly true. So everyone was really happy with Modern Warfare for the next year, and that’s when the company that made Call of Duty 3, which was a huge disappointment. Released their new game Call of Duty: World at War, which used the same graphics engine from Modern Warfare. Everyone still had a bitter taste in the mouth from Treyarch, and most were scared to splurge into the game. What they found however was a pleasant surprise from the past. Going straight back into World War 2 was actually a pleasant experience because Treyarch used something that worked, and made it better. They used new innovations such as a zombie mode, and dismemberment to bring people. So Call of Duty had just made two really awesome games with the same graphics engine. Most developers spend two, to three years to make a game, with a new graphics engine. So keep this in mind while I throw out my disappointment. May we remind you of the reason Duke Nukem was so awesome? But why Duke Nukem Forever failed?

Why’d it have to die T_T.

It seems like all the video game developers were in on this, with console gaming. In 2009 EA, Unreal, Activision, Ubisoft, and a whole bunch of other developers I wasn’t happy with.  Were still using graphics engines developed in 2007, which yes they looked nice. But it was a shortcoming to an almost gamer promise, that developers every two, to three years would make a new graphics engine. Well they jipped all of us. Unreal made Gears of War 2, and leased their game engine to thirty different companies, which shot out thirty shit games. Over glorified mods of a semi-decent game Unreal Tournament 3. EA started making Bad company 2, which used the same engine, only updated that the first Bad Company used. Infinity Ward who gave us amazing games such as Call of duty 1,2, and 4. Also decided they could screw us over with the rest of the video game industry. Even Steam was in on it with Left4Dead2. Which must’ve been a joke to the Valve. Modern Warfare 2 came out like some Frankenstein zombie that we were supposed to buy, play, jeer for, and be happy with for 60 bucks. Everything was wrong with this game, it had two years of development. With the same graphics engine! It lacked private servers, it had the shortest, nonsense campaign ever. The maps were created by a five year old, and the perks system was absolutely stupid. All in all, the game was two years of sitting on their hands, not listening to what people wanted, and expecting people to still buy it.

If only these things were never allowed to happen.

Well a lot of people did buy it, and console gamers were happy with it as it did attribute to their needs, but they know nothing of true gaming. So let’s get back to Black Ops. With almost four years of experience with a graphics engine, it’s safe to expect that everything would be perfect. There wouldn’t be any frame loss, and excreta. Hopefully after that exceptionaly long rant you will understand my frustration with the video game industry, and how Black Ops really changed my view on Call of Duty again.

Yu-Gi-Oh, or whatever had the perfect picture for how I felt.

The good side of Call of Duty: Black Ops: Well Treyarch must really care about their game. It probably has to do with them competing with their older brother Infinity Ward. Which makes me happy because competition is a good thing, and something that the video game companies are lacking at the moment. First off, I’d like to point out the good points of this game: Good use of the graphics engine, best FPS campaign I’ve played for this style of shooter, solid multiplayer, good use of zombie mode again, and they totally knew how to make PC gamers happy again.

Really Treyarch, you went above the Call of Duty. LOL Pun, fail.

So let’s start with good use of the graphics engine. Treyarch knew they were using a old graphics engine. However, you can tell they knew how to use it correctly. The maps were huge, with tons of detail that Modern Warfare 2 Lacked. They knew where to put certain elements such as limited amounts of enemies, and endless amounts. Such as when you’re in the trenches fighting what seems almost like millions of Vietnamese. Along with the graphics engine they also knew what to throw in. There was some vehicles, cinematic moments, realistic weapons ( That you would find in a real fight), and realistic enemies (You don’t have 30 guns that do the same thing, or that are in the wrong categories like Modern Warfare 2). They also take you across a large variety of settings in this game, which is a great way to show mastership, and experience of using a graphics engine. Overall use of using the older system made me happy. As said; graphics aren’t everything, and Treyarch knows how to do just that.

Treyarch was definitely taking notes when it came to the campaign. They knew to keep the campaign action filled, and well orientated like Modern Warefare 2s campaign. Which was fun, and cool. It just made no sense. Which they also fixed, the campaign made perfect sense to me, and it had my jaw drop, my pants explode, and back bone roll up on itself all at the same time. The campaign had me guessing from the very start. At the start you are thrust into a position that you don’t want to trust anything be told to you. You are then forced into positions that you have to embrace people, and you learn to trust them. Then you are put into a total twist, as your mind, body, and captivators go through the hell you’ve been through. The ending was absolutely perfect, and everything was action packed, and mysterious from the beginning. It had a very realistic feel, and with a deep meaning. My favorite part though was how the developers listened to what the people wanted. They made a extremely long, and well made campaign unlike their older brother Infinity Ward.

This really brought a smile to my face, when I knew Treyarch had instead of hurting the players. Kicked Infinity Ward in the balls with this. Treyarch got rid of the Xbox live style multiplayer for PC, and went back to private servers. Which will always be faster, and better. This eliminates a lot of problems, such as hackers, spammers, dirt bags, etc. Also Clans can actually form, and have battles for the more hard core gamers. There can also be more game modes, and more players, and the development company can save money as they don’t have to provide a ton of crappy servers. Lastly my favorite part, they really listened to the people again! They put LAN gaming back in. Which was a majority reason for most PC users to not buy Modern Warfare 2. Which didn’t support LAN gaming at all. Seriously guys, you were making a PC game, dumbasses. Even the most basic games with multiplayer support LAN. What were they thinking taking a step backwards?

For more info on LAN gaming go to: http://www.cybergamer.com.au/forums/thread/184898/LAN-SUPPORT-IN-BLACKOPS-WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO/

Last of all  the good points. They took a good innovation from Treyarchs last game. Call of duty: World at War, and made it way better! Nazi zombies seemed almost like a last minute installation into World at War. We liked it though! It was way fun to play a Left4Dead style game, that involved more barricading. With more realistic feel, weapons, and first person feel. It could eventually become major competition to other zombies games, but at that time it was certainly just a fun little bonus. After some patches, and expansions it became a seriously fun arcade style game. Now it comes back, as a full time, ready to expand even further multiplayer game. We love bashing zombies with knifes, turning on power, and my favorite part. Unleashing a full twelve gauge trench gun furry on some zombie dogs running at a million miles an hour to rip your jugular out.

This game was a total success for me. It has its ups, and downs. But it really shows that the game companies no matter how big they are really still care about us. Other developers such as Dice are making free games, and a Battlefield 3. It’s almost like a sorry letter for Bad company 2. Crysis is making a step forward to make their game more available to PC users, and console gamers. Minecraft is still developing, possibly becoming the greatest game of the year 2010-2011. As for its ups, and downs PC gaming will always be worth it to me. I hope this gives you a better look at Call of Duty: Black ops, and other aspects of computer gaming. Have a great life you all! Enjoy the pictures, and videos :) .
